Window on Persecution

Quéribus- one of the fortresses to which the Cathars withdrew.

This stronghold is high and isolated, with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside in the Corbières in southern France.  It was to here in the mid 13th C that the Cathars withdrew.   Declared as heretics, the Cathars were persecuted, imprisoned and burned.
