Train travel is not very viable in Canada – our distances are too great and our population too sparse – and it’s a shame. I used to enjoy even my old commuter run into work in Montreal years ago. The commuters still run of course, but even they don’t have the charm of the old train cars. Now the Orient Express – that would be a wonderful journey, I should think.
It does somehow … what is that about train stations? Bus stations have an entirely different feel and of course airports are glitz and shine and lack character.
Is that window double glazed? I love old fashioned train travel, it has a unique atmosphere and vibe of it’s own
Hi Pommepal – it appeared to be a double window, like the old storm windows my father hated putting on as winter arrived.
Unlike airports, train stations have that sense of patience and mystery….you’re right, they are indeed romantic.

It makes it all the more poignant knowing it’s a train station.
