View of Verrucole in Tuscany – population: 50. We spent a couple of weeks here living in the old grey stone house that is almost in the middle of the line of buildings. Loved it.

What was the draw?
Actually, we didn’t realize we were going to be quite as remote as we were – it took us a while just to drive down the switchbacks to the plain, and that curtailed our roaming range a bit. So we explored more of the mountain area , of national parks and reflecting lakes and marble quarries and walks in chestnut woods. It was late October and you could hear the chestnuts dropping all over the woods. When you haven’t seen it before it’s all good 🙂
